In 2023, Randy and Rochelle White walked into a small, one-room schoolhouse in Noodle, Texas and started X• Academy, a homeschool co-op with a straightforward mission: give homeschooling families in the Big Country access to the kind of high-quality academic and athletic opportunities that had always felt out of reach.
What they could not have predicted was what happened next. Families showed up. Then more families. Then more. Word spread across Abilene and beyond that there was a place that took both education and athletics seriously, that welcomed the ambitious and the committed, and that refused to treat excellence as a privilege reserved for the few.
Within three years, the homeschool co-op had grown to 250 families and 600 students across 8 counties. It proved something the founders had believed from the start: families in the Big Country were hungry for a higher standard, and they would drive across county lines to find it.
The co-op proved the model. X• Prep is what that proof made possible. A private preparatory school, built from the ground up, for families who want next-level academics and next-level athletics under one roof.
THE MARK
THE X• BRAND
The name X• was not born in a boardroom. It was born on the land. Randy grew up on a cattle ranch in the American West under the Rocking X. Rochelle grew up on a ranch of her own under the Dot Bar.
When they came together to build something new, they combined what they came from. X•, pronounced X-Dot, is the marriage of two legacies, two ranches, and two people who believe that the values forged in wide-open country translate directly into a standard of excellence in the arena, the classroom, and in life.

THE FOUNDERS
RANDY & ROCHELLE
WHITE.
Randy and Rochelle are parents first. Their determination to give their six children the best possible education led them to homeschool, not as a fallback but as a deliberate, high-stakes investment. The results are hard to argue with. Their oldest is entering her senior year with two associate's degrees already in hand, and the rest of their children are following her lead under the same standard.
Rochelle brings the arena. A four-time consecutive state volleyball champion and student of coaches who advised three Olympic Gold Medal teams, she set the championship standard that runs through every X• athletic program. Randy brings the infrastructure, the vision, the culture, and the drive to build something the Big Country had never seen.
They will tell you they did not see it coming. Everyone who knows them will tell you it was inevitable.

What every X• Prep student is expected to bring. Every day. No exceptions.

SHOW UP FULLY
Be present in body, mind, and effort. Showing up to class, practice, or any X• Prep commitment means showing up ready to work. Chronic absence, habitual lateness, or consistent disengagement are not compatible with the X• standard.

BRING MAX EFFORT
We will never lose due to lack of effort. The outcome of any given challenge is not always in our control. The effort we bring to it always is.

OWN YOUR GROWTH
Learning is an active pursuit, not something that happens to you. Students are expected to advocate for themselves, ask questions, and take genuine ownership of their progress. Passive participation is not participation at all.

FAIL FORWARD
Failure is not the opposite of success. It is the path to it. Try hard things, fall short, learn from it, and try again. What is not acceptable is giving up, making excuses, or refusing to engage with difficulty.

TREAT EVERY PERSON WITH RESPECT
Every student, coach, educator, staff member, visitor, and community member is owed respect without exception. Disrespect toward any person, in any form, will be addressed directly and without ambiguity.

BE HONEST
Honesty means more than not lying. It means doing your own work, representing your abilities accurately, communicating problems before they become crises, and being truthful with yourself about your effort.

TAKE RESPONSIBILITY
X• Prep students do not blame, deflect, or make excuses. When something goes wrong, the first question is always: what was my role in this and what can I do differently? Accountability is a strength.

REPRESENT THE HERD
Every X• Prep student represents this community everywhere they go. On campus, in competition, in the community, and online. The Bison Mentality is not something you put on at the door and take off when you leave.
THE EFFORT STANDARD
EFFORT IS THE PRICE
OF ADMISSION.
Outcomes are never fully in our hands. Life is unpredictable. Losses will happen. But effort, full, relentless, uncompromising effort, is a choice that is available to every student and every staff member at X• Prep, every single day.
We will never lose due to lack of effort. That is the one outcome we refuse to accept.

And when that effort meets failure, because it will, we do not flinch. Failure is not the opposite of success at X• Prep. It is the path to it. Try. Fail. Learn. Repeat. That loop, run honestly and repeatedly, is the most proven method for reaching any level of genuine mastery that exists.
What we will not accept is failure as a destination. Falling short is only useful if you extract the lesson and bring it back to the next attempt with more intelligence than before. That is not losing. That is how the Bison gets stronger.
This standard belongs to the institution as much as it does to the students. X• Prep commits to the same accountability we require of everyone in the building. The best interest of the students is the compass. Everything else is negotiable.
The struggle is not the problem. The struggle is the point.
THE SYMBOL
WHY THE
BISON.
Most animals sense a storm on the horizon and run. They flee from the pressure, only to be overtaken and forced to endure the full weight of the weather for hours. The Bison does something different. It turns toward the storm and charges directly into it.
By meeting the difficulty head-on, the Bison passes through it faster. It does not avoid the hard thing. It shortens it. That instinct is not a metaphor we borrowed. It is the standard we are trying to build into every student who walks through our doors.
A single Bison is already an intimidating force. But a Bison alone is not the full picture. When they move together, something different happens entirely. A herd does not just cross the land. It reshapes it.
At X• Prep, we are building both. Individual students strong enough to charge their own storms, and a community that, when it moves together, becomes something far more powerful than the sum of its parts.
